SMSTS – Site Managers Safety Training Scheme Refresher
This two-day course is intended for those who currently hold the Site Management Safety Training Scheme Certificate and now wish to update their skills and knowledge in line with current legislation and maintain a current SMSTS certificate.
Course Duration: Two Full Days (9am-5pm)
Course Aim: At the end of the course delegates should be able to; Manage health and safety on site in accordance with the current legal provisions and within the context of their management or supervisory roles; Develop an understanding of their responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare and Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical and productive.
Course Content:
- Risk assessment and method statements
- Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007
- Construction Health, Safety and Welfare (CDM part 2)
- Reporting of Accidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences
- Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction activities to include:
- Work at height Regulations 2005
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002
- Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002
- Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005
- Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
- Fire on construction sites including Fire Safety Order 2005Those who wish to further their knowledge of health and safety should undertake the NEBOSH National Construction certificate. Those who wish to improve their management skills should undertake the Construction Supervisors Award.
